East Leeds – Incinerators get the go ahead

Waste incinerators for east Leeds gets go-ahead from councillors Two power stations that burn waste instead of coal, and will generate power for up to 73,000 homes have been granted planning permission by Leeds City Council. A £200m plant will be built at Skelton Grange by waste management specialist Biffa. The second – which had aroused much more controversy– will be built and run by multi-national Veolia just one mile away on a former market site at Cross Green, the £460m facility will be paid for by a 25 year PFI contract. Armley – Hands off our Homes meeting – 14th Feb

Seacroft – vision to convert Methodist Chapel into Arts Centre

A community arts organisation has revealed its vision to convert Seacroft Methodist Chapel into a bespoke arts and broadcasting centre in the heart of East Leeds. Heads Together has managed to raise the £800,000 plus needed for the conversion of this building.
